  1. Philippines is largely an agricultural country and rice has always been the staple food for Filipinos. Agriculture have supported financially three in every ten Filipinos. Crop growing and livestock production techniques have been passed down from generation to generation. I strongly support the advancement in technology and research to take pressure from farmers the laborious task of farming and growing live stocks. Being open-minded, this will not only make the life of farmers less complicated, but also consider the better output of products. Production will definitely increase considerably and crops will be more nutritious and better looking, thus achieving a good and substantial profit for the farmers.

On the other hand, advancement will greatly affect the traditional methods being practiced by most of the farmers today. Others would argue that embracing this technology would mean loss of job for farmers. They claim that it will no longer be farmers who will do the plowing and planting of fields, but they will be slowly replace by machines. Well, that is true. Farmers will no longer do the hardwork, they will simply be the operators of the machines.

To summarize, looking into productivity and benefits to consumer with considerable less human labor, biotechnology bags the price. Tradition will always be there. our farmers are smart enough to think of ways to collaborate this new technology without sacrificing the traditional practices.
